Liberty Elementary

Where the Freedom to Learn Prevails!

About Us

A Lady Liberty statue in front of the school.

Liberty Elementary School was built in 1987.

Liberty is a PreK-5th grade school.

It is now the oldest elementary school building in Charlotte County. Hurricane Charley led to the rebuilding of our older schools that were damaged by the storm.

There have been four principals at our school. Mr. Bob Alwood opened our school in 1987. Following his retirement Mr. Tom Gifford became our second principal, serving for 16 years. Mrs. Sheila Brown served Liberty for almost 10 years and then took the job of Director of Elementary Learning at the School Board Office. Mrs. Whaley, who was our Assistant Principal, became the fourth principal at Liberty in 2024.
